Your child is attending a school receiving Title I federal funds through the No Child Left Behind Act (referred to as NCLB). This Federal law requires that parents be notified of their right to know the professional qualifications of their child's teacher(s) in core academic subject areas, including the following:
1. The type of state credential or license that the teacher holds. Some teachers will have a credential in a particular subject area, such as English or mathematics, and others will have a multiple subject credential, which allows them to teach a variety of subjects, such as in elementary schools.
2. The education level and subject area of the teacher’s college degree(s). All teachers have a bachelor’s degree, and many teachers have graduate degrees beyond the bachelor’s, such as a masters or doctoral degree.
In addition to the qualifications of the teacher, if a paraprofessional (Educational Technician) provides your child services, you may also request information about his or her qualifications. Many paraprofessionals have two years of college, and others have passed a test that verifies their qualifications.
If you would like this information, please contact the school principal.
Once again we will be collecting the Box-Top for Education logos from participating products. This is a great fundraiser for our school. Please return these labels to Gilford Butler School. This is a great way for friends and grandparents to help with fundraising also. Last year our school earned $148.00 just by returning labels.
This program also features a rebate to the school for on-line purchases at hundreds of on-line retailers. There is no additional cost to your purchase for this program. Go to www.btfe.com . You will need to complete a free registration to affiliate yourself with Gilford Butler School. In order to earn cash for your school you will need to shop these sites by accessing them through www.btfe.com . The school will not earn dollars if shopping is not done by first logging onto the box-top website. After logging in, click on shop marketplace or shop reading room(Barnes and Noble).
Once registering you can access recipes featuring box-top products, as well as entering contests to win bonus box-tops for our school! You may also check the schools progress on-line to see how much the school has earned.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Between the Owls Head School and Gilford Butler School we raised $417.20 for our April check. This is double what we earned for our October check!
Keep up the good work.
