Mr. Tripp, Principal

Mr. Tripp, Assistant Principal

I grew up in Tenants Harbor and attended the St. George School from Kindergarten to 8th grade.  In 1998 I graduated from Georges Valley High School and then went on to attend Elmira College in Elmira, New York.  In 2002 I graduated from Elmira College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a concentration in Psychology.

After graduating college I decided to join the family printing business, Camden Printing where I worked for 6 years.  In 2008, I went back to school at the University of Maine in Orono and entered the Master of Arts in Teaching program.  At the completion of this program I earned my teaching certificate for grades K-8 and Masters Degree.  In 2009  I began teaching 1st grade at the MacDougal School.  The following year MacDougal was closed and we joined South School where I continued to teach 1st grade for the next 4 years.

Last year, I switched grade levels and was the Math and Reading interventionist for grades 5-7 at both Rockland District Middle School and Thomaston Grammar School.

During my years of teaching I continued to take graduate level courses in early literacy, and then eventually educational leadership.  After three years of study through the University of Maine I completed the Educational Leadership program, and continue to take classes to earn my Certification for Advanced Study.

This is my first year in administration and I could not be happier.  Both Gilford Butler and Owls Head are wonderful schools with excellent teachers, eager students and supportive families and community members.

I live in Cushing with my wife Gretchen, who is a 6th grade teacher at Rockland District Middle School, as well as our three kids Benjamin, Nicholas and Isabelle.

If during the school year you would like to come in to see me please feel free.  I travel between Owls Head Central School, Gilford Butler, as well as the two Pre-K classrooms at the Penquis building in Rockland.  You can email me at btripp@rsu13.org or by phone at either 594-7666 or 594-5650 to set up an appointment.
